Background LLC focuses on working with companies to build strategic plans and processes to achieve company growth targets. We have experience working with bootstrapped companies, private equity backed organizations, and government entities.

Our founder, Joe Koenig, has over 20 years of experience in the technology and software industry. He has a background in software development and infrastructure across multiple industries ranging from healthcare to, most recently, EdTech.

Joe’s impressive career includes positions as Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services and Founder/Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Embrace® Education Software where he led technology strategy and compliance efforts to achieve SOC-2 security compliance, and ultimately, a sale of the company to a large private equity firm.
